Last week, HYPEBEAST celebrated Pokémon Trading Card Game’s 25th anniversary with a rollout of various activations, including two pop-ups, a tramcar takeover, wheat paste posters, and a special capsule collection that spotlights the iconic Base Set Charizard.
The highlight of the celebrations was the BELOWGROUND pop-up at Hong Kong’s LANDMARK, Central, on October 22, where a full “Pokémon Center” was constructed. The space opens up to a full Charizard LED column, and houses a range of features that include a Pokémon 25th-Anniversary infinity mirror photo backdrop, official massive Pikachus, sticker vending machines, a Poké Ball wall, and gachapon machines.
Still ongoing till November 21, the BELOWGROUND pop-up will host weekly weekend trainer sessions where new players can learn the rules of the trading card game.
HYPEBEAST also held a pre-launch two-day event at Hong Kong’s Sino Centre, Mongkok, from October 20-21. Sino Centre is a popular hot spot for anime/manga lovers, gamers, and card collectors and players that rings nostalgic for those that visited this basement arcade during their teenage years, and especially those that grew up playing Pokémon TCG.
Alongside, HYPEBEAST also created a special lookbook, and took over the streets with a custom Hong Kong tramcar and wheat paste posters.
