Microsoft has unveiled a new look at Halo Infinite‘s campaign mode, revealing several updated systems within the new 343 Industries gameplay.
In the trailer’s opening, Master Chief debuts a purple Cortana, harkening back to the AI’s original color for Halo: Combat Evolved and revealing that the character’s first mission will be to collect the updated AI. The visual also showcases a new garage, where Chief stores a selection of vehicles for missions within the Forward Operating Bases, or FOBs, in the map menu.
Additionally, the trailer welcomes new experience points, upgraded equipment, “boss” characters, and a “Target” menu. Infinite is set after 2015’s Halo 5: Guardians — the last mainline Halo game to release — and follows the plot of the artificial intelligence revolution led by the aforementioned AI.
Halo Infinite‘s campaign and multiplayer modes will arrive on December 8 for Xbox and PC as part of season one, “Heroes of Reach.” Though the game will not launch with campaign co-op or Forge mode, cooperative gameplay should become available in season two, roughly three months after the game’s initial launch.
The game was originally set to launch alongside the Xbox Series X and Series S last year, but experienced delays due to several developmental challenges throughout the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
