Russell Crowe and Zac Efron are set to star in Peter Farrelly’s film adaptation of the book, The Greatest Beer Run Ever: A True Story of Friendship Stronger Than War written by Joanna Molloy and John “Chickie” Donohue. The film, which has a shortened title, The Greatest Beer Run Ever, is based on a true story of the author, Donohue, who in 1967, left New York to track down a childhood friend from the army for a beer.
According to Variety, Production for the film is set in Vietnam, though filming is using Thailand as a stand-in. The film is produced for Apple TV+ by Skydance Media and will see Brian Currie and Pete Jones co-write the script with Farrelly.
Both Crowe and Efron have taken to social media to share their arrival in Southeast Asia. A spokesperson for the project has also confirmed that production has begun in Thailand. There is currently no word as to when the film will be released just yet.
