Houston rapper Maxo Kream shared his new album Weight of the World on Monday, featuring guest appearances from hip-hop’s top shelf, including Tyler, the Creator, A$AP Rocky, Don Toliver, Freddie Gibbs and more.
Following 2018’s Punken and his 2019 major-label debut Brandon Banks, this latest record boasts a distinctly more serious tone as Maxo delves into the ups and downs of life after the tragic passing of his brother, Mmadu Biosah, and overcoming several obstacles. The album boasts 16 tracks, which include previously released singles “Greener Knots” and “Local Joker.”
“My best album,” the rapper writes on Instagram, “My best work I put my all into this shit blood sweat and tears.”
Released via RCA Records, Weight of the World was produced by Hit-By, Cardo, DJ Dahi, while mixing and mastering was handled by TDE’s Mixed By Ali and Mike Dean, respectively.
Maxo opted out of an industry-standard Friday release and instead dropped the album on Monday to commemorate the anniversary of the death of his cousin Woodrow Kream as well as his niece’s birthday.
