In Scott Derrickson‘s latest new horror thriller, Ethan Hawke plays a part-time magician and a full-time serial killer who specifically targets children.
Hawke, who plays “The Grabber” is the evil protagonist of The Black Phone. The synopsis of the film follows a 13-year-old boy, Finney Shaw, who is abducted by a killer and trapped in a soundproof basement. All that is in the room is a disconnected black phone that hangs on the wall. Finney later discovers that when the phone rings, they can hear the voices of the murder’s previous victims. The voices assist Shaw in his escape, but not without challenges.”
Finney Shaw is played by Mason Thames. Others in the caset include James Ransone, Jeremy Davies, E. Roger Mitchell, and Madeline McGraw. Derrickson also co-wrote the film with C. Robert Cargill who also worked on the 2016 Doctor Strange film.
The Black Phone comes out on February 4th, 2022.
