Christie’s Will Auction Artwork Benefitting New York’s AIDS Memorial on its 10th Anniversary

Next month, Christie’s will hold a special event called “Unquestioning Love,” an auction that will benefit New York City’s AIDS Memorial. The event will be in conjunction with the 21st Century Evening Sale and the Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale and feature a cast of legendary figures, from Keith Haring, Robert Mapplethorpe and Catherine Opie, to contemporary artists, such as KAWS, Sarah Hughes and Nicolas Party, amongst others.

“So many talented artists — a whole generation of mentors — were lost to AIDS,” said Party in a statement, adding “To know that they, and the over 100,000 other New Yorkers, are being remembered through the New York City AIDS Memorial and their public cultural and educational programs is moving. It is an honour to be donating work to support the Memorial’s future.”

Founded ten years ago, the AIDS Memorial honors the 100,000 New Yorkers who lost their lives during this tragic period in history. Dave Harper, Executive Director of the Memorial stated the incredible support from these contemporary artists “helps us to reflect on our complex and powerful past and to make certain that the memories of those we’ve lost, and our shared history as New Yorkers, are never forgotten.”

“Unquestioning Love: An Auction to Benefit the New York City AIDS Memorial!” will commence at the 21st Century Evening Sale on November 9 and the Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale on November 12.

Elsewhere, NANZUKA presents the “Prism” group show at its UNDERGROUND location.
