After center fielder Kiké Hernández launched the Boston Red Sox into the ALCS on Monday night with a walk-off sac fly, the team celebrated their victory over the Tampa Bay Rays with a beer and champagne-soaked shout-along to Robyn’s classic 2010 pop song “Dancing on My Own.”
Ok, so it wasn’t technically Robyn’s version. Via Vanyaland, the Sox were losing their minds to the Tiësto remix of Calum Scott’s cover of “Dancing on My Own” — which happens to be backup catcher Kevin Plawecki’s walkup song. And you know what? That’s just fine. If Boston wins two more playoff series and hoists the World Series Commissioner’s Trophy, only then will they deserve the real thing. In the meantime, enjoy the contact buzz of watching a locker room full of beefy dudes scream “I’m in the corner watching you kiss her!” below.
Robyn released her last album, Honey, in 2018. Earlier this year, The Knife’s Olof Dreijer shared a remix of Robyn’s 2014 collaboration with Röyksopp, “Monument.” As for the Boston Red Sox, they’ll face the winner of the Houston Astros/Chicago White Sox series in the ALCS starting October 15th, with the winner of that matchup heading to the World Series beginning October 26th.
