Brooklyn-based artist Michael Kagan presents his first-ever helmet sculpture series “A7L HELMET”, a limited-edition 25-piece collection signed and numbered by the artist.
Kagan is known for his abstract depictions of astronauts presented through oil paintings and both physical and digital sculptures. The artist has collaborated with the likes of Billionaire Boys Club and The Smithsonian in the past and comes off an “It’s Never Over” solo exhibition in Hong Kong honoring F1 drivers.
The “A7L HELMET” is made entirely of bronze and measures a life-sized 267 mm high, 275 mm wide, and 260 mm long. His signature gestural brushstrokes are realized through a scattered collage of layered strokes on the whites of the helmet, and a yellow-tinted reflective visor offers a smooth contrast at the front. The sculpture is presented in an industrial white wooden box which includes a plaque with Michael Kagan’s signature and “1/25” text.
An online draw is available now on the DDT website, and will end on September 13 at 12 p.m. HKT (12 a.m. EDT). Shipping will begin from November 2021.
