Sony will host its PlayStation Showcase 2021 on September 9, the company announced on Thursday.
The 40-minute event will provide “a look into the future of PS5” as well as “updates from PlayStation Studios” regarding games releasing later this year and in 2022. Additionally, developers from first- and third-party studios will be in attendance to share news on their respective projects.

Sony did not disclose exactly what will be discussed during this year’s showcase, though it is likely that the company will give updates on Horizon Forbidden West and the next God of War gameplay, both of which are scheduled for release in 2022. Sony did mention that its next generation of VR, which is reportedly set for release late next year, will not make an appearance during the showcase.
Next week’s event marks the first of its kind in almost a year; during the showcase’s last iteration, Sony officially unveiled the PlayStation 5. Following its release, the company announced in July that it had sold more than 10 million PlayStation 5 units across the globe, making it the fastest-selling console in the brand’s history.
Sony’s PlayStation Showcase 2021 will be available to stream on YouTube and Twitch beginning at 4 p.m. ET on September 9.
