21 Savage on Owning His Masters: “I Make More Money off My Album Sales Than I Do off Touring”

21 Savage shared in a recent interview with Million Dollaz Worth of Game that having ownership of his masters has given him more financial stability than hitting the road.

“I had a platinum album before I signed my deal, you see what I’m saying. So…I own my masters. I own my masters right now. Every song you ever heard, I own it,” he confirmed. “My split, I got a 70/30 split with my label; I get 70, they get 30. I own all my masters.”

The artist continued, “A deal ain’t no deal where it’s like, ‘Damn, I wish I was independent,’ you see what I’m saying? I make more money off my album sales than I do off touring. A lot of rappers, most of their money come from touring. I make more money off of my album sales and my music sales than I do off touring.”

The 28-year-old revealed in 2017 that he signed with L.A. Reid over at Epic Records where he retained 100 percent ownership of his masters. “I ain’t want to sign on some straight business sh*t,” 21 Savage previously said. “I wanted to sign to someone who’s going to believe in me. Like, who’s going to understand me.”
