Following last week’s cryptic commercial during ESPN‘s SportsCenter, Drake has confirmed his long-teased, upcoming album Certified Lover Boy‘s release date.
“CERTIFIED LOVER BOY SEPTEMBER 3,” he wrote under an image of several “Pregnant Woman” emojis via Instagram on Monday morning.
The formal announcement arrives days after the Six God interrupted ESPN’s SportsCenter program with a glitchy advertisement mimicking a broadcast hack. In the commercial, a piece of cardboard flashed before the screen fronting a handwritten message: “CLB September 3.”
The official SportsCenter Twitter account spoke out about the takeover, writing, “We want to apologize for any interruptions viewers might have experienced during SportsCenter this morning. We had some technical difficulties that have since been resolved.”

Earlier this month, the chart-topped confirmed that Certified Lover Boy had been completed on an episode of OVO Sound 42’s Fri Yiy Friday on Sirius XM. “Album’s cooked. Looking forward to delivering it to you,” Drake said during his brief appearance. “I hope everybody in the world is blessed. I hope everybody has their drinks, everyone’s locked in. Good vibes and good energy for this weekend.”
“OVO, we aim for the head, we don’t aim to please. Certified Lover Boy on the way, and that’s for anyone in the way.”
In other music news, Lorde’s Solar Power debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
