Aaron Johnson is a New York-based artist who creates vibrant work that ranges from the ethereal to the grotesque. Johnson uses a variety of painterly techniques — from using a wash of colors to stain his raw canvases to experimenting across abstraction and figuration — to create an array of ghost-like characters that float in dialogue with the viewer. One such character has been brought into the realm of 3D through a new collaboration with Case Studyo.
Entitled, “TRUE BELIEVER,” Johnson’s latest edition is the first with the world-renowned Belgian studio and features a green glowing ghost made entirely of blown glass. The character emits a translucent glow that brilliantly reflects the aura emitted by Johnson’s canvas paintings. The artist describes the character as “a benevolent spirit, a kind presence, with her three eyes wide open and reaching into other dimensions.”
Due to the nature of the glass blowing process, each of the 25 editions is unique with variations in color and form. Collectors looking to purchase a “TRUE BELIEVER” can contact Case Studyo for further inquiry. As with all their editions, each comes in a smooth wooden box and is signed and numbered for authenticity.
