After several guest hosts, like LeVar Burton, Jeopardy! is looking to lock in a permanent host to succeed the late Alex Trebek. An inside source has revealed to Deadline that the executive producer of the show, Mike Richards, was appointed to the role.
Richards, who has already hosted the show in episode 110 in season 37, has plenty of off-screen experience with his ten-year role as executive producer of The Price Is Right and his contributions to Let’s Make a Deal — he’s a three-time Daytime Emmy Award winner with over 4,000 hours of game show programming under his belt. In terms of hosting, Richards has also presented on the shows Beauty and the Geek and the 2012 The Pyramid reboot.
Sony Pictures Television is inking the final deal this week and will be giving an official announcement in the coming days.
