Beyoncé Drops Two New Visuals To Celebrate ‘Black Is King’ Film Anniversary

Beyoncé Drops Two New Visuals To Celebrate ‘Black Is King’ Film Anniversary

Just a year after Beyoncé has released her Disney+ musical film, Black is King, Queen B has dropped two stunning visuals for tracks “Mood 4 Eva” and “OTHERSIDE” to remind viewers of the dazzling world of the film.

“Mood 4 Eva” features her husband and hip-hop mogul, JAY-Z, Childish Gambino and Oumou Sangaré. In one scene, Beyoncé is dressed in a sparkling cheetah print gown, confidently standing next to a matching buggy, seemingly embodying “Mood 4 Eva” in the best way she knows how. In “OTHERSIDE” Beyoncé and JAY’s twins’ Rumi and Sir make a guest appearance in an angelic video that sees Beyoncé with a glow-like aura surrounding her as she walks audiences through emotional scenes.

The film served as a visual album to Disney’s The Lion King also featured a number of high-profile guests including cameos from Blue Ivy, Pharrell Williams, Naomi Campbell, Lupita Nyong’o, Wizkid and Kelly Rowland.

When Black is King first released, some were quick to criticize Beyoncé on “romanticizing” the continent instead of shedding light on the history. The film’s director Kwasi Fordjour responded, “My first reaction to the criticism is that this film is a mixture of fiction and reality. There are parts of this film that were shot on the ground of Nigeria, shot on the ground of South Africa. But there’s a story element just like any film. This isn’t a documentary so there’s a fantasy element to it as well. To me, the true representation of Africa, again, is some of the collaborators, who have put their vision into the film and that is the sounding board and the reflection of Africa and its innovation. That to me is real. That to me is honest. That is the representation that’s needed to break barriers.”
