New ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ Trailer Spawns Woody Harrelson’s Deadly Symbiote

New ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ Trailer Spawns Woody Harrelson’s Deadly Symbiote

Sony has unveiled a new trailer for Venom: Let There Be Carnage, the Marvel Comics-inspired sequel to the 2018 film Venom.

Picking up after the post-credits scene in the original movie, the Andy Serkis-directed sequel sees Tom Hardy return as Eddie Brock, a journalist who has an alien symbiote living inside him, alongside Michelle Williams, who depicts his character’s love interest, Anne Weying. The plot focuses on a central conflict between Hardy’s alien counterpart, Venom, and the story’s villain, Cletus Kasady, or Carnage, played by Woody Harrelson. Also joining the sequel is Naomie Harris, who plays Francis Barriston (or Shriek), who briefly appears in the new visual and becomes romantically involved with Carnage.

The new trailer further details the comedic identity crisis that Eddie faces as Venom inhabits his body, while simultaneously providing a closer look at Cletus, who is locked up in maximum security prison for his crimes as a serial killer. After Eddie arrives to profile Cletus in jail, the trailer hints that Cletus bites Eddie and ingests enough symbiote DNA to host his own vicious monster, Carnage, and from there, the action ensues.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage was first slated to release in October 2020; however, the debut was delayed until 2021 due to the ongoing COVID pandemic. The film will now officially hit the big screen on September 24, 2021.

Elsewhere, Adult Swim has released a new Rick and Morty anime episode.
