Billie Eilish Survives a Flood in “Happier Than Ever” Music Video

Billie Eilish Survives a Flood in “Happier Than Ever” Music Video

Today, Billie Eilish released the music video for “Happier Than Ever,” the lead track from her new album of the same name. In typical Eilish fashion, the song opens somberly before taking a dramatic turn.

The video opens with Eilish sitting on a velvet couch in a room washed in peach. The song opens up with the line: “When I’m away from you/ I’m happier than ever/ Wish I could explain it better/ I wish it wasn’t true.” As the camera pans, it becomes clearer that the alt-pop star is likely addressing a romantic interest on the phone.

The soft and somber guitar gets an electric makeover when Eilish opens the door and water floods the room. Eilish quickly swims away and ends up on the house’s roof as rain pours down through the shadowy blue darkness.

Today, Eilish released her highly anticipated sophomore album, Happier Than Ever. “This was the most fulfilling, most satisfying and profound experience I’ve ever had with my music,” Eilish said in an Instagram post about the new album’s release. “I love every song on this project so so much it literally scares me thinking about putting it out into the world for anyone to listen to. I feel like crying. I grew so much in the process of making this album and experienced so much self-realization and self-reflection.”
