Porsche has seen huge amounts of success with its Macan as the SUV is the perfect size for everyday use, and now the German marque has updated the Macan to make it “Stronger, sharper, and sportier” across the board.
Kicking off with the GTS spec, Porsche revises the 2.9-liter V6 biturbo engine to produce 440 PS (as opposed to the older model’s 380 PS), and when it’s been fitted with the optional “Sport Chrono” package, this mildly-mad SUV will do the 0-62 MPH sprint in just 4.3 seconds before reaching 169 MPH. The same engine can be found in the Macan S, only now it produces 380 PS and does the same sprint in 4.6 seconds.
For those who want something a bit more user-friendly, the base model now comes fitted with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that’s good for 265 PS and a 0-62 MPH time of 6.2 seconds — which is by no means slow. All engines are coupled to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and Porsche’s all-wheel-drive system.
Elsewhere, Porsche continues to suggest that the GTS is the one to go for as it now comes with a sports air suspension and a new Porsche Active Suspension Management system that registers and controls damping on each wheel as you drive along for a better experience. The GTS also sits 10mm lower than the rest of the range, and for those who want the very best, you can add the “GTS Sport” package which equips the GTS with 21-inch GT design wheels with performance tires, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, and the aforementioned “Sport Chrono” package.
Across the range, you’ll notice small visual tweaks to areas such as the front bumper where more color (or black on the GTS) has been added to accentuate the width, and at the rear, a new diffuser has been added for a more dynamic aesthetic. Rounding out the upgrades is a host of new colors and the 10.9-inch full HD touch display inside the Macan, as well as the GT Sport steering wheel from the 911.
