West Ham United are interested in signing the French goalkeeper Alphonse Areola this summer.
The Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper was on loan at Fulham last season and he managed to impress with his performances.
The 28-year-old is unlikely to start regularly for PSG next season and he needs to leave the French club in order to play regular first-team football.
A move to West Ham could be ideal for the shot-stopper. He could challenge Lukasz Fabianski for the starting berth and eventually establish himself as the first-choice goalkeeper for the Hammers.
According to L’Equipe, the Premier League side are keen on signing the 28-year-old goalkeeper on a loan deal with an option to buy and they have already contacted his club regarding a summer transfer.
It is no surprise that the Hammers are looking to bring in a quality goalkeeper this summer.
Their first-choice goalkeeper Fabianski is 36 and they will have to start planning for life after him.
Areola is at the peak of his career right now and he could sort out West Ham’s goal-keeping position for the foreseeable future.
PSG have Keylor Navas at their disposal and they are expected to sign Gianluigi Donnarumma in the coming days.
Clearly, they do not need Areola at the club next season and the French outfit are reportedly keen on a permanent sale.
The two clubs remain in talks for now and they are hoping to find a resolution soon.
