After much anticipation over a potential release of Certified Lover Boy at this past weekend’s Las Vegas Fight Night, the Drake responded to the rumors, giving his own definitive answer.
The Toronto rapper was a recent guest on Sound 42’s Fri Yiy Fridays show. He revealed that he is finished recording the album and is currently in the mixing stage. One of the hosts said that his daughter is excited to hear his new music to which Drake responds, “You know, Uncle Drake’s on his way back home to mix the album, so, she’s got a bunch of new tracks coming her way.” He later doubled down on his answer sharing, “Definitely on my way home to reunite with my dawg [40] and finish this thing up. CLB on the way. On your head top.”
Certified Lover Boy marks Drake’s sixth album. In a previous Instagram story, he gave fans a rundown of his process saying, “I was planning to release my album this month but between surgery and rehab my energy has been dedicated to recovery. I’m blessed to be back on my feet feeling great and focused on the album, but CLB won’t be dropping in January. I’m looking forward to sharing it with you all in 2021.”
Here’s to hoping the release date for Certified Lover Boy is imminent.
