The first season of HBO‘s The Last of Us will reportedly include a total of 10 episodes.
The news was revealed by writer and executive producer Craig Mazin during a recent appearance on Scriptnotes. He also noted that the season one of the TV series adaptation will be helmed by five directors — Ali Abbasi, Kantemir Balagov and Jasmila Zbanic, with the other two still under wraps. Not a lot of information is known about the show, but it was confirmed that production just began.
The Last of Us will see Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as Joel and Ellie, Nico Parker as Sarah and Gabriel Luna as Joel’s brother, Tommy. Luna recently shared a photo of him, Pascal, Parker, cinematographer Ksenia Sereda and director Balagov on-location in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. “Already love these folks. #MillerTime #thelastofus,” he wrote in the caption. Naughty Dog co-president Neil Druckmann is heavily involved in the adaptation, serving as a co-writer, developer and producer.
