With the temperature gauge almost reaching 30°, we have finally found an excuse to unleash our summer dress collection. Whether you’re a clean-lined minimalist, a floral fanatic, a lover of boho ruffles or someone who craves a simple T-shirt dress, it’s fair to say that there’s plenty to choose from this season. Personally, I’ve been a big fan of the loose, smock-like styles that have proliferated over the last 12 months, as they both keep you cool and look the part with Birkenstocks or strappy heels.
That being said, I have also appreciated the transformation of the mini this year, which has been offered up in unexpected fabrics and silhouettes. Think wrap styles in premium linen, pops of fuchsia and frill-neck collars. You also can’t scroll through the new-in sections without noting that cut-outs are a key theme for 2021, and they can be found on both ends of the market. Although, & Other Stories’ cut-out black midi is definitely a highlight.
To give you a head start in the dress stakes, I’ve compiled the ultimate edit of summer styles, divided into minis, midis and maxis so you can pick and choose according to your wardrobe needs. Just remember to select pieces that you know you’ll wear again and again rather than just the latest frock you’ve spotted on your favourite influencer. Ready?
