6LACK is speaking his mind on his newest single. On “F*ck The Rap Game,” the rapper reasserts his intentions – and reminds us not to get misguided by the glitz and glamour of fame.
“Over the last few years, there seems to be a lot more moments where it feels like being an artist is about everything besides the actual music. I consider myself very fortunate to do what I love for a living. But I say fuck the rap “game” because that’s the part I don’t love. The part that has nothing to do with artistic expression and makes being an artist feels like a job,” 6LACK explained of the track’s central sentiment in an official statement.
“It’s a personal reflection about distractions within the music industry that detract from what this art form was created for. I’m distancing myself from the politics and reminding myself what my purpose is within the genre.”
It’s evident throughout the track’s timely lyricism, carried by a chorus that goes as follows: “F*ck the rap game, mm / The politics is lame, mm / I’ma keep on mindin’ my business / Keep on countin’ my digits.”
“F*ck The Rap Game,” which also surfaces with a cinematic music video, is 6LACK’s first piece of new music since Since I Have A Lover in 2023. He then dropped off the acoustic edition of the project called No More Lonely Nights back in March
