After the success of the Super Bowl Halftime Show, 50 Cent and Eminem were asked to do a joint performance at this year’s FIFA World Cup.
In a recent interview with Real 92.3’s Big Boy’s Neighborhood, 50 was asked about whether or not the two rappers have thought about touring with each other. At around the 24:10 mark of the interview, 50 Cent revealed,
“Because of the Super Bowl [halftime show performance], I got an inquiry about the World Cup. They had a budget of $9 million for it. I would have took $1 million and the other [$]8 [million] would have been for him. For a one-off…I’m saying, if you would do a one-off maybe you would do the biggest live sporting event in the world.”
While 50 Cent seemed to agree with the idea, he explained, “I talked to [Eminem’s manager] Paul [Rosenburg] and they was like, he’s not gonna do it.” In the same interview, 50 discussed that he was bringing Eminem’s 8 Mile to TV. He said, “I think it should be for his legacy. It’s important to me they understand it.”
In other music news, Dr. Dre is selling his catalog to Universal Music and Shamrock Holdings in $200 million USD.
