5 Albums I Can’t Live Without: Pierre Bouvier of Simple Plan

5 Albums I Can’t Live Without: Pierre Bouvier of Simple Plan

Name Pierre Bouvier, singer of Simple Plan

Best known for “I’m Just a Kid” TikTok challenge and “What’s New Scooby-Doo?” theme song.

Current city  Ojai, California

Really want to be in Ojai California.  I love this place and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.  I feel lucky to live here.

Excited about I’m definitely excited about going back on tour. I miss traveling and playing shows. I’m also really anxious to find out what our fans think about the new album! I feel like they are going to absolutely love it, but until it’s actually out, we never really know….  So, I can’t wait to find out.  I’ve also been co-writing and producing a lot during the pandemic so I’m excited for people to check out these projects. I’ve done a few songs with Chad Tepper (“I Hate Everybody”, “Rich Kid On Christmas”) and a full EP with a young kid named Beckett (weirdo).

My current music collection has a lot of  I’ve been listening to a lot of current pop hits lately because I have two young daughters so we end up playing a lot of KIDZ BOP in the car to keep it clean. LOL. Dad life…

And a little bit of  Always gotta represent the pop punk. It’s always my go to.

You wouldn’t expect me to listen to I like country music a lot. My wife is a big fan and through her I’ve gotten into it a lot more than people would expect.

Preferred format  I like vinyl when I’m at home and I want to listen to something specific. Everywhere else I’m streaming music. I do really enjoy the convenience of steaming.  You have all the music in the world at your finger tips. It’s pretty mind blowing compared to when I was growing up and you had to go buy a cassette or a cd just to check it out.

5 Albums I Can’t Live Without

1
The Artist in the Ambulance, Thrice

I’m not usually into screaming hardcore music, but this album just does it for me. I love it from top to bottom. It’s powerful and melodic at the same time.  So visceral.  It takes you on a roller coaster of emotions and there’s no other album out there quite like it. Definitely a must in my collection.

2
Damn the Torpedoes, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

Tom Petty is by far my favorite older artist. I think he’s one of the best songwriters of all time. I love his voice and melodies and how simple and catchy all of his songs are. This album is in my opinion one of his greatest with songs like “Refugee”, “Here Comes My Girl” and “Even the Losers”. I could never live without it.

3
Enema of the State, Blink 182

This album marks a pivotal time in musical history for me. Blink 182 really defined a genre with this one and, in a lot of ways, paved the way for Simple Plan’s success. Not only is it a fantastic album filled with incredible hits, it reminds me of that summer when Simple Plan opened on the Pop Disaster tour with Blink and Green Day (we played the parking lot as people entered).  Blink and Green Day were at the height of their success and it was so fun for us to tag along on this massive tour and have backstage passes and be part of the whole crew. This album always takes me back to those days and puts a huge smile on my face.

4
Trashed, Lagwagon

This album came out when I was 15 and totally rocked my world. I had never heard music that was so technical and yet deeply emotional and energetic. It has deeply shaped the way I write music. I love Joey Cape’s voice and all the amazing guitar riffs on this record. The song “Whipping Boy” remains to this day one of my favorite songs of all time and I can’t imagine going on without it.

5
Fearless, Taylor Swift

I’m a sucker for this album. It’s so good and has so many incredible songs on it. It was the album that sparked my interest into country music which is a big part of my collection now. You can definitely find me singing along loudly to songs like “Fearless,” “Fifteen,” “Love Story,” “White Horse” and “You Belong with Me.”  If I was stranded on an island, I’d want to have this album to change it up and get my pop/country on once in a while!
