After the last couple of years, family occasions have held a much greater significance in our diaries and hearts. Easter, in particular, is a time of remembrance, coming together and honouring of loved ones, bound by lots and lots of chocolate. Whether you celebrate Easter or not, it marks the change of seasons and what’s not to love about dressing up for the occasion? It’s also a four day weekend, after all. Whether you’re spending it home or away, in or out, like most things, Easter dressing can be anything you make it.
Whimsical ‘cottagecore’ and agricultural merriment are two phrases that come to mind, but there’s also space for oversized, boxier fits, depending on your wants and needs. The midi and maxi dress take prevalence in my picks, as I find they can be either casual or formal all depending on the styling. I enjoy being swaddled in dresses with opulent fabrics and last week marked the retrieval of my prized puff-sleeved dresses that were gathering dust over winter.
Silky textures are also abundant this year and they can be dressed up or down with knitwear. Lighter florals with paler backgrounds take centre stage here too, as do dresses in muted white, green, orange and yellow hues. Totême’s T-shirt maxi dress is one of my hero picks—it’s a classic shape in a soft, mellow yellow and is great for those who tend to wear more neutral pieces who are looking for an easy way to add colour to their existing wardrobe. You can always rely on the likes of Rixo and & Other Stories to create amazing dresses for all occasions.
Keep scrolling for the dresses that I am eyeing up for the Easter weekend—here’s hoping the UK weather reflects these picks.
