For the 2021 Artist Plate Project, the Coalition for the Homeless has worked with 45-world renowned artists on a set of limited-edition releases. The purchase of just one plate can provide a meal for up to 100 homeless or low-income New Yorkers.
Made in conjunction with Prospect, a company that aims to make art accessible to the masses, the bonafide china plates are an edition of 250 and will retail for $195 per piece. Covering a wide assortment of artists, both old and new, some of the standout names include KAWS, Helen Frankenthaler, Virgil Abloh, George Condo, Yoshitomo Nara, Nicolas Party, Loie Hollowell, and many more.
The initiative was a major success last year, having raised over $1.5m USD — many of the plates selling out within minutes. The group works with local New York organizations by providing emergency food and clothing, eviction prevention, crisis services, permanent housing, job training and programs for youth to 3,500 homeless and at-risk men, women and children each day. The 2021 Artist Plate Project will be available on Artware Editions on November 16.
Elsewhere, Hebru Brantley will release a new sculpture with Avant Arte.
