Developer CI Games’ studio HEXWORKS has announced its new RPG, The Lords of the Fallen. The dark fantasy-action title was unveiled during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live and will serve as a reboot of the 2014 game of the same name.
Set more than a thousand years after the events of the first game, The Lords of the Fallen takes place in an expansive realm divided by the world of the living and the land of the dead, Players will create their own hero to take on NPC quests involving combat and magic, wrapped up in a rich, compelling narrative. The interconnected world leaves much to explore and is over five times larger than the original game.
“The Lords of the Fallen is the spiritual successor fans of the original title have always wanted,” Creative Director Cezar Virtosu said. “The game is significantly larger, with a vast, interconnected dual world split between the realms of the living and dead, that players can explore alone or with friends. It’s darker and more challenging, with faster soulslike combat, stronger thematic, richer narrative, deeper RPG systems, and more immersive storytelling.”
The Lords of the Fallen is currently being developed for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. While it’s designed as a single-player campaign, players can also invite a second player to join them in an uninterrupted online co-op mode.
A full gameplay trailer will be revealed later this year.
