On Saturday, 100 gecs made their Coachella debut—unfortunately, it was cut a bit short. The duo of Dylan Brady and Laura Les were in the middle of performing “Money Machine” from their 2019 sophomore album 1000 gecs when crew members started rolling pieces of equipment offstage. Then, the sound abruptly cut out. The crowd shouted “gecs! gecs! gecs!” before Brady and Les retreated backstage. Representatives for the band offered no comment when reached by Pitchfork.
Prior to launching into “Money Machine,” Les addressed the crowd, saying: “We just got a couple more for ya tonight.” But “Money Machine,” or at least, part of it, was their final song for the evening. Watch it all happen below, and follow along with Pitchfork’s full coverage of Coachella 2022.
Following the release of their last studio album, 100 gecs dropped the guest-packed remix LP 1000 gecs & The Tree of Clues. The duo have since issued 10000 gecs singles “MeMeMe” and “Doritos & Fritos.”
